SGI Sponsor Ukrainian Refugee

Petro Garakpo, aged 17 is a young talented footballer who was facing conscription in Ukraine following the invasion of his homeland by Russian Forces.

SGI first heard about Petro’s footballing talent through its worldwide network of scouts and were determined to give him an opportunity with our affiliated clubs and pathways.

Petro fled the invasion and embarked on a cross-country escape to continue to pursue his footballing dreams with us in the UK. We were keen to provide him with a platform to continue his learning and offered training sessions, trial opportunities and sponsored his recent tour to Spain.

Through SGI’s support staff and partners we have been able to provide accommodation, food, transportation and a footballing platform in Europe to help his resettlement.

We are proud to support our communities internationally and continue to help unsigned talents pursue their goals, despite the obstacles they may face.
