Farnborough 'B' Team Launched
SGI has today announced a revamp of its professional development phase programme ahead of the 2022/23 season, as it looks to enhance the pathway into Farnborough FC's first team for its young players.
As part of a considered structural and philosophical review with the Board, we will now form Farnborough FC ‘B’ team.
The B team will consist of an elite selected 20 man squad who will work under the guidance of Former Professional Footballer Jamie Strong and play against a range of EFL, non-league & European clubs, as well as other B teams.
The initiative has been launched by SGI in an attempt to expedite the pathway of its academy players to the first team and to provide competitive experiences for first-team players and trialists who are in need of match minutes.
The squad is designed to create an approach that replicates the first team and, in turn, strengthens the prospects of the club’s young players succeeding when they are given the opportunity of moving up to Spencer Day’s first team squad.
The changes will see the group mirror the training programmes, coaching and style of play of the first team. Training will also be organised with the first team for B team players, in order to ensure the club can watch the B team squad regularly.
The B team will continue to participate in the Hampshire Cup with a fixture programme to provide players with more of a first-team experience, playing against senior teams in a competitive environment.
Young players will also be sourced loan opportunities to gain first team experience as we endeavour to bridge the gap to the senior team.
If you have been released from a professional club, please send your CV to email@example.com
Players will be contacted for B team trials later this month.
